Both methods work.
But it is recommended to use CMD commands which help easy/convenient output of IID and input of Confirmation ID.

The key you mentioned won't work because it was blocked (C008) and you had not successfully activated your product by it.
It should work if it's a Retail one and you did activate using it before. As said, a Retail key, which is now blocked, will still work on your computer if you once successfully activated your product before. Hence, try to get a working Retail one (Online or GetCID/GetWeb one)
